The Great Western Greenway follows the line of the famous Newport / Mulranny railway which closed in 1937. This is a traffic free cycling and walking facility and is the longest off-road walking and cycling trail in Ireland. It came about by the goodwill of the local landowners who allowed access to users to pass through their lands.
Travelling the greenway you will be surrounded by idyllic scenery - the peace and tranquillity .... the pictures speak for themselves ... it will leave you speechless. (See more photos on our facebook page).
You will be able to relax and enjoy the countryside, there are no steep hills and the route is well signed and you can take it at your own pace. Why not take a packed lunch? ... which we can provide for you.
Bicycles can be hired from different locations or even if you just fancy a stroll, inhaling the fresh air - this is your ideal location.
